What is Meridians?
The Meridians are directional pathways of the energy flow of Qi through the body. The free flow of Qi through the meridians in the body is essential to keep you healthy. However, illness would be brought on if there is a blockage in your energetic pathways.
According to Chinese Medicine, the human body has 12 organ meridians: Bladder meridian, Pericardium meridian, Gall Bladder meridian, Heart meridian, Kidney meridian, Large Intestine meridian, Liver meridian, Lung meridian, Small Intestine meridian, Spleen meridian, Stomach meridian and Triple Warmer Meridian.
Each meridian is most active at a specific time of day/night for 2 hours. During this time, it has the strongest energy during the day. According to the merididan clock, you can optimize these energy cycles and keep your body in peak health.
Below is a picture of the organ/meridian clock, which shows when each organ is most active.
Things to note about Meridian Clock
3 am-5 am (Lung)
The Lung meridian governs the body’s immune system and the distribution of oxygen in the blood. During this time, our lungs are functioning at their optimal level.Waking up during the lung meridian hours could indicate lung issues, illness, autoimmune problems, or emotional difficulties. To address this, prioritize clean air, stay hydrated, and do deep breathing exercises. Reduce mucous-promoting foods if waking up with phlegm or coughing.
5 am-7 am (Large Intestine)
The large intestine meridian is responsible for waste transformation and excretion. Symptoms like abdominal pain, constipation, or diarrhea may indicate an imbalance. To support balance, wake up around 6:00 a.m. after 8 hours of sleep, drink warm lemon juice to stimulate bowel movement and lymph flow, and practice morning meditation to release negative emotions and prepare for the day ahead.
7 am-9 am (Stomach)
Breakfast is considered important because it aligns with the peak activity of the stomach meridian. Imbalances in this meridian can lead to stomach issues, leg pain, leg cramping, and a sore throat. A nutritious breakfast can help soothe these emotions and keep the body energized throughout the day. It is recommended to make breakfast the largest meal as the body has optimal digestion and assimilation during this period.
9 am-11 am (Spleen)
The spleen meridian plays a crucial role in converting food into energy and maintaining fluid balance in the body. Imbalances in this meridian can lead to sluggishness, allergies, stomach discomfort, and potential issues with the pancreas. Interestingly, it is also the most common time for heart attacks because an imbalanced spleen may not provide enough energy to the heart.
During this active phase of the spleen, mental clarity and the ability to exert mental energy are enhanced. It is an ideal time for work.
11 am-1 pm (Heart)
From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, noon is considered the “time of the heart.” The heart is believed to be the source of cognitive processes, mental focus, planning, intelligence, thoughts, ideas, and the execution of intentions. The Heart meridian is the energy pathway that connects various aspects of our body and mind. If you have heart issues, they may manifest more severely during this time of the day. You may also experience related symptoms such as palpitations and restlessness. On the other hand, the Heart meridian is also associated with laughter and enthusiasm. It is recommended to emphasize these emotions by socializing with friends and having lunch during this period.
1 pm-3 pm (Small Intestine)
The small intestine meridian is vital for the digestion process, so it’s logical that it becomes more active after lunch. If you experience symptoms such as bloating, fatigue, lower abdominal pain, or a sore throat during this time, it may be indicative of an issue with the small intestine meridian. To improve its function during its peak activity, it’s important not to overeat during lunch to ensure proper food absorption. Opting for a lighter lunch can significantly reduce afternoon bloating and fatigue.
3 pm-5 pm (Bladder)
The urinary bladder meridian is responsible for the elimination of urine and sweat from the human body. It is considered the body’s largest detoxification system in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is often referred to as the “Sun.”
During the late afternoon, there is a higher flow of Qi through the urinary bladder meridian, which includes the bladder and kidneys. Symptoms such as dehydration, bloating, or feeling tired may indicate that this meridian is not functioning properly. To prevent dehydration and crashes, it is recommended to limit caffeine intake and drink more pure water throughout the day.Massaging the back can also help to stimulate the flow of the bladder meridian.
5 pm-7 pm (Kidney)
Our kidneys are vital for survival as they are responsible for blood purification and detoxification. If you are experiencing excessive fatigue or lower back pain during this time, it could indicate hormone imbalances, thyroid disorders, or adrenal fatigue. It is recommended to engage in relaxing activities during this period and opt for gentle forms of exercise such as walking or yoga classes, aiming to nurture and nourish your body and unwind from the demands of the day.
7 pm-9 pm (Pericardium)
The pericardium surrounds our heart.During the evening, as more Qi flows through the pericardium meridian, blood circulation increases, delivering nutrients to the body’s cells. If your blood circulation is poor, the situation might worsen during this time. Imbalances in this meridian can also manifest as heart palpitations and headaches. The pericardium meridian is closely connected to the endocrine organs such as the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, and reproductive organs. This is a good time for socializing with loved ones and having a light dinner. This period is intended for relaxation and to support restful sleep. It is recommended to turn off electronic devices and put your phone on airplane mode.
9 pm-11 pm (Triple Burner)
The Triple burner is not an organ but rather an energy system that helps maintain balance within the body, playing a crucial role in our stress response and metabolic equilibrium. When it becomes imbalanced, the flow of qi can be obstructed and unable to move smoothly. This may manifest in the body as swollen lymph nodes, slow metabolism, fatigue, and chronic inflammation. Using Spooky2 Scalar to aid sleep and enhance energy balance during this period is an excellent approach.
11 pm-1 am (Gallbladder)
As the energy flow increases in the Gallbladder meridian, the body processes cholesterol, purifies tissues, and enhances brain function. This is also the time when the liver begins detoxifying toxins. Symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness, or jaundice may be associated with imbalances in this meridian.
Sleep during this period is crucial as it allows the liver to detoxify and the body to repair cells.
1 am-3 am (Liver)
After late night, your liver begins to recharge, detoxifying your body and mind. This is why getting proper sleep during these hours is crucial. It is during this time that your liver obtains the energy necessary to eliminate various toxins from your system. Excessive alcohol consumption before bed can impair the liver’s detoxification function, and frequent use of painkillers can also contribute to liver toxicity. Therefore, it is recommended to explore natural remedies for managing pain that are easier to control.

What Are Spooky2 Scalar Users Saying?
“Thought I would share this photo of us doing a Spooky2 Scalar session while doubling with Lajin (a technique I learned many years ago from the person that brought it out to the west).
Lajin opens up 10 meridians at once and the Spooky2 Scalar enhances the exercise. I would imagine the same for yoga, Tai-Chi or Qi-Gong. I love the Scalar and it’s very healing.”
