For a beginner, taking a class is the best option. Please be sure that your Tai Chi teacher is an experienced teacher, and then he/she will be able to accommodate your personal health conditions or levels of coordination and fitness. Please choose loose-fitting clothing and make sure it does not limit your range of motion. A pair of light shoes(Tai chi shoes) is necessary to avoid slipping. Of course, you can even practice barefoot to feel the ground better.
